In an unprecedented case, an IPS couple of Uttar Pradesh have sought voluntary retirement together. The IPS officers of 2011 batch – Sudha Singh and her husband Dinesh Singh – have sent their application to the Home Department. Both husband-wife have been promoted from state police service.
Sudha Singh is currently serving as DIG Railways in Lucknow while Dinesh Singh is on medical leave for past one year. Both Sudha Singh and Dinesh Singh have cited personal and family reason for early retirement. While Sudha Singh is slated to retire in June 2026, Dinesh Singh is scheduled to retire in October 2028.
Dinesh Singh had been on leave for a long time due to health reasons and was unable to join the duty. According to sources, he is believed to have taken the VRS decision to take complete rest due to health reasons.
The VRS application of both the officers will now be considered at the government level. Generally, the opinion of the personnel department, the police headquarters and the home department is taken in such cases. This decision is also considered very important for the government.
