Senior IPS officer Praveer Ranjan assumed charge as director-general of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He is the 32nd DG of CISF.
A 1993 batch IPS officer from AGMUT cadre, Ranjan aims to
prepare the force for future challenges through modernisation in operations, welfare with compassion and transparency in administration.
He has been on central deputation since last April and was CISF's special DG heading its sensitive airport security sector
In a career spanning 32 years, he has held several key positions including special CP/crime & economic offence wing of Delhi Police; DIG, CBI; and DGP Chandigarh, before joining CISF last year.
He is considered an excellent officer. He has received President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2016) and the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service (2009).
Ranjan is MA (history) from Delhi University and has done masters in police management from Osmania University; masters in public management from the National University of Singapore & Harvard University, and LLM from the National Law University, New Delhi.
