IAS Kanwal Preet Brar spent seven hours in ED interrogation in relation to the alleged violations in Suntec City and Altus Space Builders Pvt Ltd projects during the year 2024. This is the second appearance of Brar at ED office after she was summoned on August 18.
According to sources, ED had grilled Brar little more than 8 hours on August 18 and had sought some documents related to two controversial schemes of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).
The interrogation of Brar ahead of enquiry of Additional Chief Secretary and former Chief Secretary Anurag Verma is crucial. Verma, who was then heading Urban Development and Housing, is schemed to be quizzed on August 31.
Brar, a 2007 batch IAS, promoted from state civil services, was then serving as Director of Town and Country Planning. ED is probing her role in the violation of rules in the change of land use in the two schemes.
Sources said that ED questioned her about approvals granted to Ritesh Properties and Industries Ltd (RPIL, which is now known as Hampton Sky Realty Limited connected to minister Sanjeev Arora) without following agreement to first develop and sell 50 per cent industrial plots.
