Shefeen Ahamed K, a 2003 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
A native of Kerala, Shefeen was suffering from cancer. He was serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Crime Branch in Odisha since July 2023.
An engineering graduate, Shefeen is the son of Habib, a CITU leader. He has also served Kerala on intercadre deputation for some years. He had served as SP rural (Thiruvananthapuram). He had received several honours and medals for his services in Cyber Crime division and CID CB.
Over more than two decades he held a series of important posts in Odisha, including Superintendent of Police in Jharsuguda, DIG of the South Western Range, DIG Technical, IGP Home Guards, IGP of the Human Rights Protection Cell, and DIG at Police Headquarters.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi condoled the sudden demise of this decorated Police Officer. In a Facebook post, he said, “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Shefeen Ahamed K, IPS, I.G. of Police, CID, CB. His dedicated service to the State and Odisha Police will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.”
