Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has directed Municipal Commissioner (MC), Divisional Commissioner (DC) and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to conduct regular public hearings thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 am to 12 noon. Residents can submit their representations and seek timely resolution of their grievances.
To facilitate a coordinated redressal of matters requiring joint action, the DC and the SSP will hold a joint public hearing every Friday from 11 am to 12 noon at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Sector 17.
The administrator has directed during the designated public hearing hours, no official meetings would be scheduled by these offices. In case of administrative exigencies, such meetings may be arranged before or after the public hearings to ensure uninterrupted interaction with the residents.
The Administration has reserved Wednesdays exclusively for public engagement since March 2024. Recently, Kataria had visited various offices across the city to review the existing mechanisms for public interaction and grievance redressal.
