Senior IAS officer Mandeep Brar has been given the additional responsibility of chief secretary, Chandigarh. He is a 2005 batch Haryana cadre IAS officer.
In August 2024, Mandeep was appointed Home Secretary of the Chandigarh Union Territory (UT) by the Centre. It is for 3 years on inter-cadre deputation. He will now oversee his current responsibilities along with his new role as Chief Secretary, managing key administrative affairs of the Union Territory.
Earlier, the Chandigarh chief secretary Rajeev Verma, a 1992 batch IAS officer, was transferred to Delhi two days ago to be the chief secretary of Delhi.
The appointment will be effective till further orders.
Born in Chandigarh, Mandeep is the son of former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge HS Brar. He had also served as DC of Chandigarh from 2018 to 2021.
