Senior IPS officer Arun Bothra strongly criticised murder accused Siya Goyal after a video of her making a middle finger gesture at media personnel while being escorted by police went viral on social media. This incident occurred during the investigation into the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, in Pune.
Sharing a screenshot of the viral video on X, Bothra reflected on his policing career, noting that he had dealt with several hardened criminals and murder accused. He observed that most of them eventually exhibited some degree of remorse, guilt or emotional conflict, particularly when the victim was innocent.
However, Bothra pointed out that Siya Goyal's conduct reflected a “chilling absence” of any such emotion.
Describing her behaviour as cold and remorseless, he said her gesture towards the media was deeply disturbing.
According to the police, Siya Goyal, along with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to murder her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal. Investigators allege that the duo meticulously planned the crime and pushed Agarwal into a gorge at Lohagad Fort.
The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to collect evidence. The case is currently under judicial scrutiny.
