Trouble intensifies for 1998 batch Bihar cadre IPS officer Amit Lodha in the disproportionate assets case.
The Bihar government has given its nod for prosecuting Lodha, who is serving in the rank of Additional Director General of Police. However, the state government has given this approval only under the sections registered under the IPC or BNS against the IPS.
In the case registered under the sections of the PC Act, i.e. the Prevention of Corruption Act, the prosecution proceedings against him will begin only after the approval of the Central Government. The Home Department has confirmed that the prosecution has been sanctioned. Once the green light is given by the central government, the investigating agency will file the chargesheet in the surveillance court.
According to the information, a month after Amit Lodha was promoted to the post of ADG, the state government had constituted a committee to consider the possibility of prosecution clearance against him. On the report of this committee, the Bihar government has approved the prosecution of the case. It is noteworthy that a primary registration was registered against IPS Amit Lodha in the disproportionate assets case in the Special Surveillance Unit on December 7, 2022.
He has been charged with sections 13 (1) (b), 13 (2), 12 of the PC Act and sections 120 (b) and 168 of the IPC Act.
Amit Lodha wrote a book called ‘The Bihar Diary' in 2017. The web series ‘Khaki The Bihar Chapter' based on this book was later screened on Netflix. Since then it has been alleged that Lodha has amassed money from Netflix in his wife's name.
