UP IAS Sameer Verma, who is APO, seeks study leave

Sameer Verma, a 2002 batch officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, who was removed from the post of (IG) registration and stamps, has sought study leave from the state

Verma was removed and awaiting posting order following serious allegations of corruption in the transfer of 202 deputy registrars and  registration clerks in the stamp and registration department. Interestingly he was appointed IG on April 14, 2025. Within two months he was removed from the post. 

Sameer Verma has sought leave to pursue an MBA. Sameer was earlier serving as secretary of the social welfare department. 

Chief Minister had recently cancelled all transfer orders on the complaint of departmental minister Ravindra Jaiswal alleging corruption in the transfer of 88 deputy registrars and 114 registration clerks. 

According to sources, Sameer has approached principal secretary appointment and personnel M. Devraj and asked for study leave to pursue MBA.

Sameer Verma, an IAS officer of 2002 cadre, held the post of District Magistrate ten times during his nearly 20 years of service. 

On August 6, 2004, he was made joint magistrate in Farrukhabad. He was posted in Prayagraj on 16 March, 2005. Verma was posted in Prayagraj for more than a year. 

On 26 April 2006, he was made the Chief Development Officer of Bareilly. After just 19 days, he was sent as CDO of Shahjahanpur on 15 May, 2006. 

Sameer Verma was given the charge of District Magistrate of Mahoba for the first time on 22 July, 2006. After this, he was district magistrate in Hardoi for two years. This was followed by tenure as district magistrate of Hamirpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Moradabad, Varanasi, Mathura, Kanpur, Jhansi and Meerut.
