Over 40 people allegedly accompanied by a bulldozer arrived at the house of IAS Manjusha Rai located in Danish Kunj Colony of Bhopal and demolished parts of the residence.
Rai, who is serving as deputy secretary in Madhya Pradesh Education Department, could not do much. She is a 2016 batch IAS officer promoted from state administrative service.
The officer claimed the boundary wall and CCTV cameras were broken, and despite informing the police, no action was taken.
What is the case?
Rai told media persons that the issue pertains to House No. 595, which was purchased by her husband Vikrant Praveen Rai in December 2010 through a Rs. 41 lakh agreement.
Despite full payment and multiple requests, the property was never registered in their name. Rai stated that they have been living in the house since 2011 and even constructed two additional rooms with the seller's verbal consent.
However, in March 2025, the property was reportedly transferred by Additional Tehsildar Kolar to Ridit Arora (formerly Saeed Farid Ahmed), who sold it to Mona Bateja on June 10. Rai claimed they were unaware of the registry and discovered the transaction only after receiving threats and witnessing demolition on Friday.
Matter is subjudice
Rai said that the matter is currently under litigation in the SDM and Revenue courts, with objections filed over the transfer. Despite this, the opposite party resorted to forceful action.
“No cooperation is being received from the police. If it's a property issue, let the civil court decide. Why this hooliganism?” Rai said, urging authorities to intervene.
Administrative officials visited the site briefly but refrained from commenting on the matter. Rai has submitted complaints to senior officers, calling for justice and protection.
