Will Delhi chief secretary Dharmendra get extension?

secretary Dharmendra is scheduled to retire on September 30, 2025. If he doesn't get extension then Delhi will get a new chief secretary. Dharmendra, 1989 batch officer of cadre had replaced Naresh Kumar of 1987 batch officer last year after completion of his extended term on August 31, 2024. 

Kumar had got two extensions – first of 6 months which ended in May 2024 and then three months extension which ended in August 2024. 

“Whether Dharmendra will get extension or not will depend on many factors. High-profile appointments like that of the Chief Secretary often come down to last-minute decisions influenced by a host of factors – political, administrative, and strategic,” said a senior IAS officers. 

However, there are speculations that if Dharmendra gets retire this month then (IAS: 1993: AGMUT), is the front runner. She is serving as secretary in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. She had also served as joint secretary in prime minister's office.

Apart from that, names of other officers including Bipul Pathak (IAS: 1992: AGMUT), Ashwani Kumar (IAS: 1992: AGMUT) and Vikram Dev Dutt (IAS: 1993: AGMUT) are also doing rounds.
