Bureaucracy united in expressing grief, divided over action against officers in IPS Puran Kumar case 

Bureaucracy in Haryana and other parts of the country seems to be a  divided house over the suicide of officer Y Puran Kumar. While most of the IAS officers in Haryana seem to favour their colleague Amneet P Kumar, who is the wife of deceased IPS Puran Kumar. Amneet Kumar is demanding case against 15 IAS and senior IPS officers including DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, who according to her has conspired with Rohtak SP Narendra Bijrania to trap Kumar in an alleged case. 

However there are some IPS officers, who are against any action on senior IPS officers without any thorough investigation. 

IAS officers show solidarity, come out in support of Amneet Kumar

According to sources, a virtual meeting of the Haryana IAS Association was held in which 40 officers participated. Most of the IAS officer said that injustice has been done to an IAS Amneet Kumar, who is demanding action against officers named in the suicide note of Puran Kumar.

Sources said that in a closed What's App group of senior officer, Haryana's Additional Secretary (ACS) Home Dr. Sumita Mishra is vocal about DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, who comes under the home department. She is openly asking to support the family of IPS Y Puran Kumar.

The Haryana IAS Officers' Association expresses deep sorrow at the sudden and tragic unnatural of Y. Puran Kumar. 

It urged the Haryana government and the Chandigarh administration to address the issues raised by its colleague. Amneet, to the chief minister and to the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Sector-11, Chandigarh.

“Further, as submitted by Amneet P. Kumar, in her representation, the no. 319/2025 under Section 308(3) of BNS, 2023 which was registered at the Police Station Urban Estate, Rohtak on 06th October, 2025, (the allegations mentioned therein) needs to be thoroughly investigated in a fair, transparent, and impartial manner, which led to this unfortunate incident,” the IAS Association said.

It also requested the government to provide all possible protection, legal assistance, institutional support, and other necessary aid to Amneet and her family.

The Haryana IPS Officers Association, however has limited its resolution to the condolences. 

The Haryana Civil Services (HCS) Officers Association has already sided with Kumar's family and had demanded removal of all officers named in the FIR from their posts, temporarily.
