Four transfers in a year and the latest not even lasting 50 days forced Madhya Pradesh IAS officer Neha Marvya Singh to feel ‘dejected', ‘demotivated', ‘humiliated' and ‘demoralised'.
The 2011 batch IAS officer, who was holding multiple posts in department related to tribal development, has been left with only one department – Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation. She was relieved from all other posts in the recent transfer order dated September 5, 2026.
In a message shared with MP IAS Officers Association, Neha Singh said that she was “very disturbed” and “demotivated” after seeing the transfer list dated September 5, in which her name appeared again.
Neha Singh's expression gained weight and was taken seriously among IAS fraternity following the resignation of UP cadre IAS of officer Divya Mittal, who abruptly resigned, possibly due to the ‘failing' system of bureaucracy and governance.
Neha Singh was apparently more pained as she claimed that she was transfers at the behest of her subordinates who themselves were not culprit of insubordination. She claimed that action should have been taken against them but she was made victim.
Neha questions vulnerability of IAS officers
“I am transferred because the subordinates whose establishment is not with me but with the department organised a mutiny against me, they are thumping on my desk threatening to get me transferred,” Singh wrote.
Neha Singh questioned the system and asked, “Is an IAS officer so vulnerable that even his subordinates can get him or her transferred by organising a mutiny?”
Singh claimed that she reported the insubordination of her subordinates through proper channel and was expecting action against them.
“But it was me who had to pay the price of being upfront and honest,” Singh said.
Singh also questioned the functions and authority of MP IAS Officers Association.
“I understand that the MP IAS Officers' Association is much beyond just wishing birthdays, congratulating etc.,”
Neha blames subordinates for ‘mutiny' against her
Leave me. I don't think any IAS officer can do anything of the level that subordinates organise a mutiny within a month of joining the officer. An officer hardly gets to understand the work in a month,” she wrote.
“But I have been humiliated by this transfer at the behest of the mutiny of subordinates,” the IAS officer said.
Singh also raised concerns over her short tenures, saying frequent transfers made it difficult for her to understand and effectively handle her assignments. “How am I supposed to work? My tenures are short months. By the time I understand the charge, I get removed,” she said.
She further alleged that the repeated transfers had made her an “easy target” in the eyes of her subordinates. “Even my subordinates feel I am an easy target if I do not work according to them, they can get me transferred,” she said.
Singh said she had remained silent and patient for years while being “sidelined and not given work”, hoping that the situation would improve. Instead, she said, subordinates had now started threatening her with transfers.
Conspirators always win and I fail. The system has failed me. Today it's me, tomorrow another IAS officer will be the target,” the IAS officer further said.
