Rajasthan govt inks pact with IESA to work jointly in energy storage

Rajasthan government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) to explore the advanced energy opportunities and deliberate the advancing research-based policymaking in Rajasthan's power sector.

The MoU was signed by Sourabh Swami, Joint Secretary, Energy and Debmaliya Sen, President, IESA, which is a leading industry alliance focused on the development of advanced energy storage, green hydrogen, e-mobility technologies and building in India.

Ajitabh Sharma, , Energy said that Rajasthan has recently awarded 6000 MWhr of Standalone projects and is coming up with india's biggest energy storage capacity on a single location in Pugal Solar park.  

“This collaboration with the IESA will help the state to become a leader in BESS projects in the country,” he said. 

Debmalya Sen explained about IESA working and informed that the organisation will support Rajasthan government in promoting deployment of energy storage systems (ESS) to support renewable energy integration, grid stability, and round-the-clock (RTC) power.

“IESA will also help Rajasthan develop local manufacturing ecosystem for batteries, energy storage components, and EV supply chains while facilitating the development of a Green Hydrogen ecosystem in the state through policy inputs, pilot projects, and industry partnerships,” he said. 

Sen said that the alliance will also help Rajasthan enhance skill development and capacity building through training programmes, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. It will also help in attracting investments in energy storage, e-mobility, and clean energy value chains to Rajasthan.
