In a major action against corruption, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Dr Manish Agrawal, head of neurosurgery department and additional principal of SMS Medical College. The ACB caught Agrawal red handed while takeinge a bribe of Rs 1 lakh against counter signatures on bills.
The ACB team also arrested his associate Jagat, who threw the packet of money in the adjoining vacant plot when the team raided Agrawal's house. Later the ACB team recovered the bribe amount from the plot.
What is the case?
According to ACB Additional SP Sandeep Saraswat, a person had filed a complaint with ACB that on his bills were not being cleared for the last 3 months. He is supplier of brain coils used in neuro surgery.
His company was given a 2-year tender for supply. Hospital used to order brain coils as per the need of the patients.
Dr. Manish Agarwal was demanding Rs 1 lakh to clear the bill. Agrawal is said to have thrown away the bill when company's representative followed up for the bills. He asked representative to meet him personally.
On Thursday evening, Dr. Manish Agarwal had called the complainant home to meet him. The complainant informed ACB team, which laid the trap and caught Agrawal red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
