Rajesh Kumar Yadav, 52, who is serving as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) School Education, put his physical tenacity on test when he climbed up a wooden ladder to inspect roof of a school building in Dausa.
A graduate in civil engineering himself, Yadav conducted first hand inspection of several school buildings to ensure that students don't study in a dilapidated building.
Yadav has already clarified that safety and security of any student will not be compromised.
“If the building of a school is not in damaged condition, the school has to be closed. We can't take risk with the lives of students who are future of our country,” he told The BuckStopper.
Yadav has been particular about the quality of school buildings, educational arrangements and infrastructure facilities.
He said that the dilapidated condition of the school buildings is a serious challenge for the safety of children. Students should be kept away from such buildings immediately and the buildings declared dilapidated should be demolished without delay. At the same time, the damaged buildings should be repaired and made safe.
He directed the officials to carry out regular digital monitoring of private schools through Rajshala Sambalan App and ensure effective evaluation of academic quality. He gave special emphasis on increasing the enrolment of students in government schools in the district and said that no child should stay out of school.
Inspection of various schools
In Bassi block of Jaipur district, he inspected Government Higher Primary School, Trilokpura, Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School, Kalyanpura, Government Higher Primary School, Kalyanpura and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sujanpura. He reviewed the condition of the school buildings, teaching arrangements in the classrooms, infrastructure and security arrangements and gave the necessary guidelines. During the inspection, he checked the quality of the food by tasting the mid-day meal.
Yadav also inspected the building under construction and gave instructions to conduct a non-destructive test (NDT) to ensure its quality. He said that no compromise on quality in construction works will be accepted. If a building does not meet the prescribed quality standards or is found to be unsuccessful in testing, it will be rebuilt.
