Archaeology chief Rajesh Yadav orders for digitisation of museums, properties 

government has ordered to digitise all the museums and properties of archaeology department. 

Rajesh Yadav, principal tourism, art, culture and archaeology, has directed for bringing all the services and works of archaeology department online. He has also instructed officials to prepare a vision document of all the properties. 

The archaeology department, which was started in 1950, has 345 ancient monuments, out of which 43 are declared protected. 

“There are 22 museums and 2 art galleries, which are being operated by the department. More than 3 lakh art materials such as foot sculptures, metal statues, miniature, colour paintings, weapons, clothing, coins, handwritten texts, lithographs, inscriptions, terracotta etc. are collected and displayed,” said a senior archaeology department official.

Yadav, while chairing the review meeting of the department, directed officials to promote and publicise Gandhi Vatika housed in Central Park. 

The department handles listed monuments like Amber Fort and Jantar Mantar in and Gagaran Fort in Jhalawar.
