Atul M Gotsurve appointed as Ambassador to Mongolia

Atul Malhari Gotsurve has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to Mongolia. He will soon take up the new assignment replacing MP Singh.

Atul M Gotsurve, a 2004 batch Indian Foreign Service () officer, is serving as joint secretary in the ministry of external affairs.

An engineer by education from Pune, Gotsurve started his career as a lecturer in civil and then joined central water commission (CWC) as Assistant Director, where he was responsible for the design of various dam , including in Bhutan.

Later he joined IFS after clearing UPSC examination. As a career diplomat, Gotsurve has served in the Indian Embassy in Mexico and in Cuba, handling a number of portfolios including , commercial, trade and investment promotion, culture and consular affairs.

In the Ministry of External Affairs, he has worked in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Division from 2010-2014 in various capacities.
