As part of empowerment drive, Barmer  launched Maru Udaan programme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.

Over 3000 women from rural areas participated in the programme with 1538 of them  undergoing 5000 health checkups.

Tina Dabi said that this initiative was designed to promote women's health, education, self-employment, self-defense, and confidence. The block-level programs focused on maximising female participation to foster empowerment.

Four Sessions Focused on Expert Dialogues

A total of 50 sessions were conducted, with four key sessions held in each program. In these sessions, subject matter experts interacted with women and girls on topics like mental and physical health, financial management, skill and vocational training, schemes, and counseling.

Maru Udaan Women to Become Brand Ambassadors

Tina Dabi emphasised that the long term goal of the programme is to create a chain system for women's empowerment. Women who participated in the sessions would be trained and motivated to educate others about health, financial management, and skill development, becoming “brand ambassadors” for the initiative.

Collaboration with NGOs and Partners

The Maru Udaan programme was carried out with support from various organisations including Cairn Vedanta, JSW, SWML, Roomadevi Foundation, Jijabai Foundation, Shyor Institute, and Action Aid.
