In a rare shocking incident last week, an IPS officer was forced to walk for 1.5 kms when two of his bodyguards and driver drove away leaving the IPS officer at petrol pump.
The IPS officer Deepak Ranjan 2012 batch, serving as commandant Bihar Special Armed Forces, was going from Patna to Gayaji with his bodyguards and driver. They stopped at a petrol pump and the IPS got off the vehicle to ease himself.
During that time, unmindful bodyguards and driver were busy fiddling with their mobiles. Even before IPS could board the vehicle again, his staff drove away thinking that IPS was also in the car.
When IPS came back after easing himself, he didn't find his vehicle. His mobile phone was also in the car. Left with no choice he decided to walk to the nearest police station – Tehta police station – which was 1.5 kms away.
The IPS then took vehicle of Jehanabad police vehicle and reached Gayaji.
The commandant's driver Deepak Kumar and both the bodyguards have been suspended. Departmental action has also been ordered against the three.
