The fate of tainted IAS officer Sanjeev Hans hangs in balance as ED's special court turned down his bail plea.
The special court refused to grant bail to Sanjeev Hans, a 1997 batch IAS officer held by Enforcement directorate in a money laundering and corruption case. The hope that Sanjeev Hans, who is lodged in the Beur jail, of coming out of jail has been immediately dashed.
Court heard both sides before giving the decision
The special court had reserved the judgement on February 21, 2025 after hearing all the arguments in this case for five consecutive days. On behalf of the ED, the lawyer argued before the court through video conferencing from Delhi on Friday. After this, the special court refused to grant bail to jailed Indian Administrative Service officer Sanjeev Hans.
Accused in money laundering case
On October 18 last year, IAS officer Sanjeev Hans was arrested by the Central Investigation Agency ED from Patna. Sanjeev Hans, an IAS officer of Bihar cadre, is currently lodged in Beur jail in Patna. Sanjeev Hans was held in a case of corruptly acquiring unaccounted assets and wealth during his tenure in energy department.
The ED had filed the first 20,000-page chargesheet against Sanjeev Hans on December 16, 2024.
