A Consumer Court in Kota has issued notice to Bollywood star Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala Company and sought their response on a complaint alleging misleading advertisement. The next hearing in the case is on November 27.
Senior BJP leader from Kota and Rajasthan High Court advocate Indramohan Singh Honey has filed a complaint in the Kota District Consumer Protection Court demanding a ban on the advertisement of pan masala.
The advocate alleged that Bollywood star Salman Khan, the brand ambassador of Rajshree Pan Masala and the company are misleading consumers in the name of “cardamom with saffron” and pan masala with saffron.
It has been stated in the complaint that the value of saffron is Rs 4 lakh per kilo. How can you get it in a pouch of Rs 5? People are being misled.
“Young people are falling victim to serious diseases like cancer by being attracted towards eating pan masala in the name of cardamom and kesar,” the advocate filed in the complaint.
The complainant also demanded revoking of national awards won by Salman Khan, who allegedly promotes Pan Masala that is harmful to health.
Salman Khan has won two National Film Awards as a producer for his films Chillar Party (National Film Award for Best Children's Film, 2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, 2016).
