Devesh Chaturvedi, a 1989-batch IAS, who is serving as union agriculture secretary, has been given additional charge of secretary agriculture research and education.
Dr Himanshu Pathak, who was serving as secretary agriculture research and education, has taken voluntary retirement. He will be joining global research organisation ICRISAT as director general. Dr. Pathak is e first person of Indian origin to head this premier agriculture research institute.
Devesh Chaturvedi, an officer from UP cadre, was appointed as agriculture secretary in August 2024 when the then agriculture secretary Manoj Ahuja was sent to Odisha to serve as chief secretary. Chaturvedi had earlier served as additional secretary in the agriculture ministry.
