IAS-son issues retirement order of IAS-father

Emotions run high as son-IAS Kanishak Kataria who is serving as joint secretary DoP issued retirement order of his father Sanwar Mal Verma, who retired as divisional commissioner Bharatpur

Former Sanwar Mal Verma will photo-frame his retirement order issued on September 30, 2024. His retirement order has some emotional and also some historical quotient ingrained in it. 

Verma is probably the first IAS officer, who got his retirement letter signed by his son, who is also an IAS officer. 

Kanishak Kataria, who is serving as joint in department of personnel, signed retirement order of his father Sanwar Mal Verma. 

Verma is a 2007 batch IAS officer, promoted from state civil services. He had served in various positions including joint secretary in finance department, collector Churu, director census and divisional commissioner Bharatpur, which was his last posting. 

“I had a great time serving in Bharatpur as division commissioner for two and half years. There were few challenges of and order but we had been able to handle it well with support from colleagues and people,” Sanwar Mal Verma said after retirement.

Both had got promoted together

The father-son duo had shared emotional moments in January 2023 also when both got promoted together. While father Verma got promoted to super time scale level  – 14 in pay matrix, son Kataria got entry in the senior scale of level 11 in the pay matrix.

Kanishak Kataria, a 2019 batch IAS officer, is the topper of 2018 civil services examination . He is a bachelor in computer science and engineering. He had held various positions earlier including SDM Ramganj twice, SDM Sirohi and Zila Parishad Alwar before joining department of personnel as joint secretary in January this year.
