Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain has been given a one year extension – two days before his retirement.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced this on social media platform X and congratulated Jain.
The CM wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to the Chief Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Government Anurag Jain on getting a one-year extension of tenure. May the development journey of the state establish new dimensions with your long administrative experience, innovation and continuous efforts.”
Who is Anurag Jain?
Anurag Jain is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1989 batch. He took charge as the 35th Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh on October 3, 2024. His term was slated to end in August 2025, but now he has been extended to August 2026.
Jain was born on 11 August 1965 in Gwalior. His first appointment was as an assistant collector in Sagar district in June 1990. He then worked as a collector in Mandala, Mandsaur and Bhopal districts. He has held important responsibilities in the state government such as Secretary, Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary.

Anurag Jain has also worked on central deputation in many important positions. He has played an active role in various policy initiatives of the Central Government. He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur.
