Rajasthan to roll out AI policy

Rajasthan government is planning to roll out Rajasthan Policy-2025, aiming at making the state an emerging hub for responsible, inclusive and innovation-oriented Artificial Intelligence (AI) development. 

“This policy will promote use of AI in sectors such as , agriculture, education and urban administration, so as to improve people-centric services and boost economic growth,” said IT secretary at the stakeholders consultation workshop. 

She said that the government is inviting suggestions and options from public for the draft Rajasthan AI Policy-2025, which has been uploaded on the department's website.

The workshop had participation from reputed companies in the AI sector such as Oracle, IBM, Orbit, NEC and Ernest and Young among others. Representatives from reputed institutions like IIM Udaipur, and MNIT also expressed their views  on the draft policy.

The policy's key objectives include improving public service delivery, ethical and responsible AI development, establishing strong legal frameworks, creating a skilled workforce, promoting innovation and ensuring inclusive access. 

Three key factors have been determined for this – adoption of ethical AI at the government level, promotion of skill development and research, and creation of strong digital infrastructure.

In sync with National AI Mission

The Centre of Excellence for AI (COE-AI) will play an important role in the effective implementation of this policy. The centre will support research, innovation and startups, as well as promote collaboration in the government, academic and private sectors. The policy aligns with the National AI Mission and adopts global best practises. 

The draft policy proposes to establish a multi-tiered institutional framework, which includes the AI apex committee, the steering committee, the AI task force and the departmental AI nodal officer. 

This policy is an important step towards making Rajasthan a leader in responsible and inclusive AI adoption.
