A thief broke into the house of a sub divisional magistrate (SDM) in Rajasthan's Jodhpur decamping with jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh.
The theft happened in just 5 minutes. The entire episode was covered in a CCTV camera.
The incident took place at the house of Paramjit Singh, SDM of Salumbar, who lives in the first phase of Vijayanagar Basni in Bhagat's Kothi police station area, at around 12 noon today.
SDM's elder brother Bharat Singh has reported to the police. The investigation of the case has been handed over to ASI Girdarilal.
In the report, Bharat Singh said that his younger brother is the SDM in Salumbar and his wife Kamashree is working in the MDM Nursing College. They live on the ground floor.
“I was present on the second floor at the time of the incident, while my daughter-in-law had gone to Kamashree College. Due to this, the ground floor was locked,” he said.
According to the report, the thief broke the lock on the ground floor. Then in just 5 minutes, he took about 7 tolas (about 81.65 grams) of gold jewellery from the cupboard kept inside. These include 5 necklaces and 3 pairs of earrings.

After this, he went back out of the house once, but then entered the house again and fled within 5 minutes after committing the crime.
