Two workers died in an accident at the Shree Cement factory in Beawar. The accident took place at around 4.30 pm on Sunday during work in the hopper section. The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Maurya (42) and Sardar Singh (40). Both of them had been working as welders in Shree Cement for the last 22 years.
After the incident, workers' supporters and labour union leaders started a protest outside the main gate of Shree Cement. Police force has been deployed at the gate of Shree Cement for security. At present, talks are going on between the union leader and supporters of the deceased with factory manager Vikas Singhal.
Beawar Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kasana said that the two labourers were working at – height of 40 feet. During that time, widow of the hopper opened suddenly and huge volume of crushed stone splashed with great speed pushing the two workers down the ground. The fall proved fatal and the workers died on the spot.
“The FSL team has been called for a technical investigation,” he said. SP Ratan Singh also inspected the spot. The police have kept both the bodies in the mortuary of the government Amritkaur hospital in Beawar.
“INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress) Vice President of Beawar Pappu Khatta accused Shree Cement management of negligence. He said that the company is not doing fresh recruitment even after the shortage of workers. The workers are burdened with additional work which is resulting into accidents.
“The two labourers lost their lives today due to that only,” Kasana said.
BMS president Dilip Tak said the incident was tragic, but now negotiation is underway to ensure that the families of the deceased get the best possible support.
