Topping the renewable energy chart, Rajasthan aims to lead battery energy storage

Rajasthan is on top of the renewable chart with 40.407 GW energy in the country. Out of that 32.716 GW is of solar energy – almost one-third of the targeted 90 GW set to achieve by 2030.

In next five years, the will have to generate 60 GW more to meet the ambitious target.

Apart from that the state government is also betting big on battery energy storage system (BESS). It is developing a solar park at Pugal in Bikaner to house 2450 MW solar power and 1250/5000MWh battery storage capacity – the largest in the country.

“We are organising an investors meet on Friday (tomorrow) to share the project design of our upcoming 2450 MW Solar + 5000 MWh BESS Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner. We want to work in collaboration with stakeholders  and make this project a model example in the field of ‘Project Design and Management,” said Ajitabh Sharma, principal energy,

Rajasthan to roll out regulations for BESS

Rajasthan is set to roll out comprehensive regulations for Battery Energy Storage to promote decentralised renewable energy generation and to develop an enabling ecosystem for distributed solar generation and storage.

Rajasthan will be the second state after Andhra Pradesh, which has rolled out regulations on BESS last month. In last few months Rajasthan has worked a lot on policy matters to facilitate power generation and energy management in the state.
