Like every year, this new year has brought promotions and elevations of IAS officers . This time 51 IAS officers have been promoted. Among them officers of 1996 batch – Ajitabh Sharma, Alok Gupta, Dinesh Kumar and Rajesh Yadav – have been promoted as additional chief secretary in the pay scale of chief secretary.
With this, there are now 24 officers in the pay scale of chief secretary. Out of those six officers are serving at centre secretary or secretary equivalent posts.
All four promoted together as an exception
The state government has been generous this time to promote all four IAS officers of 1996 batch together. There was only one vacancy at additional chief secretary level after retirement of Subodh Agarwal. But state government took exception and promoted all four together.
Last year only two officers of 1995 batch were promoted to additional chief secretary level out of five in the batch on January 1, 2025 citing ‘No Vacancy'. Remaining three officers got delayed promotion in February 2025 after the state government decided to take an exception.
“The factual position is – there are 7 posts approved for ACS level in Rajasthan. State government can promote 7 more officers on ex cadre posts making the tally to 14. But state government can take exception,” said a senior IAS officer.
Likewise, officers of 2001 batch – Naveen Jain and Krishna Kant Pathak – have been elevated as principal secretary. While Naveen Jain is now principal secretary general administration, cabinet secretariat and resident commissioner Delhi, Krishna Kant Pathak, who is on central deputation serving as joint secretary fertiliser, has been given proforma promotion in the above super-time payscale.
Officers of 2010 batch including Prakash Rajpurohit (proforma promotion), Dr Jitendra Kumar Soni, Inderjeet Singh (proforma promotion), Neha Giri, Vishwa Mohan Sharma, Kanhaiya Lal Swami, Nalini Kathotia, Rajendra Vijay, Shakti Singh Rathore, Kumari Pragya Kewalramani and Mahaveer Prasad, have been elevated to supertime pay scale from selection grade.
Similarly, officers of 2013 batch, which included Ashish Gupta (proforma promotion), Nathmal Didel, Namrata Vrishni, Kana Ram, Ansh Deep (proforma promotion), Alok Ranjan, Ngikya Gohain, Arvind Kumar Poswal, Pradeep K Gawande, Mahaveer Prasad Meena, Khajan Singh, Dr Rashmi Sharma, Laxmi Narayan Mantri, Iqbal Khan, Kalpana Agrawal, Manisha Arora, Pushpa Satyani, Pukhraj Sen, Shruti Bhardwaj, Arun Kumar Purohit, Mukul Sharma and Ajay Singh Rathore have been promoted to junior administrative grade to selection grade.
Officers of 2017 batch, which included Utsav Kaushal, Gaurav Saini, Shweta Chauhan, Avdesh Meena, Devendra Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Akshay Godara, Sreenidhi BT, Dr Saumya Jha and Mahendra Khadgawat have been promoted to senior pay scale to junior administrative grade.
Likewise officers of 2022 batch including Yaksh Chaudhary, Preetam Kumar, Yatharth Shekhar, Dr Anshu Priya, Saksham Goyal, Divyansh Singh,Shraddha Gome, Mohit Kasniya, Bhaisare Shubham Ashok, Sonika Kumari, Shrestha Sree and Charu have been promoted to senior pay scale from junior pay scale.
