Arti Dogra is one of the busiest secretaries serving in Rajasthan government.
While serving as Energy Secretary, Chairperson Discoms, Managing Director Jaipur Discom and Chairperson Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited, Dogra has also been given additional charge of Chairperson Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITSL). Having seated on five important posts, Dogra virtually holds the key in energy department.
At a time when the state is bracing up for the power shortage for the ensuing summer months, giving additional charge of Chairperson of RUVITSL – the agency which purchases power in auction – reflects the trust state government has posed in her.
“This is for the first time an officer of secretary rank has been given such prominence. Going by the past record, Dogra will justify her role well. Since she is holding all the key positions , decision making will be fast at all levels,” said an IAS officer who is senior to Dogra.
Dogra has proved her mettle in past also when she was posted as Managing Director of Jodhpur Discom- the most difficult job in the energy department. She worked for three years from April 2015 to May 2018 and contributed in reducing theft and revenue losses in a big way.
“The Jaipur Discom is also working well under her leadership. While transmission losses have been reduced, there is a big focus on expediting pending connections,” said a senior engineer of Jaipur Discom.
What next?
Arti Dogra has a tough task ahead. Representing government as Energy Secretary, she will also have to serve the interest of Discoms, which are not in a good financial health.
At the same time, she will have to monitor and control the purchase of electricity needed in peak hours.
“She will have to work at multiple front. In summers working in departments like PHED and electricity is the most difficult job specially in Rajasthan. Dogra has her task cut out,” said another IAS officer.
