Ex-CMD of SAIL Amarendu Prakash joins Hindustan Zinc as CEO

Former Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAILChairman, Amarendu Prakash joined Limited as its new CEO. He replaced Arun Mishra who has recently been as the Group CEO of Vedanta Ltd. 

Amarendu Prakash has resigned from the post of SAIL chairman in April this year – almost two years ahead of his superannuation. There were rumours that Prakash has resigned to join conglomerate. And it came true after two months when he joined Hindustan Zinc Limited, which is the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer and ranks third globally in silver production. 

Who is Amarendu Prakash? 

A metallurgical engineer from BIT Sindhri, Shri Prakash joined SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical). After working in various positions of responsibilities in plants and units, Amarendu Prakash was selected as a Director in the SAIL Board in charge of Bokaro Steel Plant in 2020.

During his tenure at Bokaro as Director, he has taken several initiatives to encourage including supporting the Special Olympics.
