Rohit Kumar, a 1997 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, who has been working on deputation in Delhi since 2018, has been repatriated to home cadre. He had given his joining in the personnel department after getting approval for his return from NITI Aayog, where he was serving as Additional Secretary.
With return of Kumar, Rajasthan government, which is facing crunch of IAS, has got a senior officer. More than 20 IAS officers of the cadre are currently on central deputation limiting the options of the state government.
An alumnus of the prestigious St. Stephen's College, Kumar has an extensive experience in rural development department, serving both at central and state level. He had served as Deputy Secretary, Director and at the level of Joint Secretary in the Union Rural Development Ministry. He has also served as Secretary in the State government.
Before coming back to home cadre, he was serving as Additional Secretary Niti Aayog. He had also served as Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat before being empanelled as Additional Secretary.
