Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas has directed officials to use Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and emerging technology for the technical strengthening of DigiVan Portal, which is country's first Digital Public Infrastructure in Forest sector.
Developed in collaboration by the Rajasthan Forest Department, JICA's DXLab and BCG, DigiVan represents a transformative step towards digital-first, data-driven forestry management.
Srinivas said that the Digivan portal is an important initiative towards digital transformation of the Forest Department.
“This platform will not only help in better management of departmental information but also help in policy making, monitoring and decision making in a more effective manner,” he said in presence of Anand Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Forest, Vaibhav Galriya, Principal Secretary Finance and, Arijit Banerjee, Head of Forest Force (HoFF).
District ranking through DigiVan
Srinivas directed officials to regularly monitor the use of the portal and at the same time asked them to prepare a district wise detailed report month to determine the ranking on the basis of performance.
The ranking will be based on Forest Health Monitoring, Fire Risk Presiction, Land Use Change Detection, Afforestation Planning, Unified Citizen Portal, Eco-Tourism Management, Wildlife Habitat Monitoring, Carbon Project Preparation, and Green Credit Registration.

Strike coordination with other departments
Srinivas said that the Forest Department should establish better coordination with various departments of the State Government by fully utilising the high quality multiple-layer data available in the Digivan portal.
He emphasised on motivating young officers to innovate and carry on analytical work through the Dijivan portal and make field level officers and employees efficient in its use.
He also directed to work on API and data sharing possibilities with other departments. This will make the DigiVan portal more powerful, useable and comprehensive and will give a new impetus to data-based coordination between various departments.
