Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma seeks digital push to make Rajasthan model state in cooperatives 

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed officials to promote use of latest technology and innovations while expanding the scope of cooperatives to new activities.

While reviewing department's work, Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the Rajasthan is fast emerging as the model state n the field of cooperatives as the state is leading its way in digitalisation and bringing transparency in its functioning. Rajasthan is getting an opportunity to showcase innovations and technological interventions in the field of cooperatives on the occasion of 5th Foundation Day of Cooperative Ministry in Bharat Mandapam at New Delhi on July 6.

The Chief Minister also directed to promote the cooperative model based ‘Bharat Taxi' initiative in the state and to encourage Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras.

Among those present in the review were State Minister of Cooperative (Independent Charge) Gautam Dak, Chief Secretary V Srinivas, ACS to Chief Minister Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary Finance Vaibhav Galriya, Cooperative Secretary Samit Sharma and Managing Director RajFed .

Geotagging of warehouses

The cooperative department has launched digitalisation drive for warehouses and godowns. The department is geotag all these storage structures for monitoring spatial distribution, track real-time capacity, and improve supply chain transparency. 

“Geotagging of godowns and warehouses involves assigning specific, verifiable latitude and longitude coordinates to storage facilities, often linking them to a digital map,” said a senior official of Cooperative department. 

Many firsts to Rajasthan in field of cooperatives 

Rajasthan has made its distinctive identity as a leading state in the country by bagging many national achievements in the field of cooperatives. 

Under the world's largest grain storage scheme, 200 godowns have been sanctioned in the state, of which 120 have been completed. Rajasthan is ranked first in the country in the implementation of this scheme

Similarly, Rajasthan has also gained a leading position at the national level in getting primary agricultural credit societies membership of Seed Cooperatives, formation of new multi-purpose cooperatives, computerisation of e-PACS and digitisation of cooperatives through more than 10 crore ERP transactions. Today, the state's PACS has become an effective model of service delivery in rural areas by operating multi-services like Common Service Centre, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendra, Kisan Producers Organisation.

Expansion of cooperative family, 8.90 lakh new members added

Rajasthan has taken strong steps to promote transparency, technological innovation and public participation in the cooperative sector. Kisan Samman Nidhi, Gopal Credit Card Scheme and Risk Relief Fund Scheme are being implemented in Rajasthan. Similarly, in the year -26, 97.48 percent of crop loans distributed by cooperative banks and PACS and by implementing an effective payment system in support price purchase by Rajfed, the payment period to farmers has been reduced from 15 days to 4-5 days. 8.90 across the state under the cooperative membership campaign
