After Jagmohan Meena, another IPS Ramdas seeks to quit

Days after Bhubaneswar DCP (37), a 2013-batch IPS officer, sent his letter for “personal reasons”, one more IPS C A Ramdas (33), who is undergoing the first phase of training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, has resigned from the service even before he got posting.

Ramdas was allotted the Odisha after he qualified the civil service exam last year.

“Yes, the government has received the resignation letter from Ramdas, a probationer IPS officer undergoing training. He is yet to join any field , and the reason for his resignation has not been ascertained yet,” a senior officer said.

Though resignation has not been accepted so far, it has raised question over the police in the Odisha government as to why young officers are not willing to serve in the cadre.

Senior officers say that there is lack of patience among young officers and they find greener pasture outside.

“Most of the officers are professionally qualified from IIT or other top institute. When they compare lives of their peers, they find their living more glamorous. So they intend to leave police force and explore opportunities outside,” said a senior officer.
