Veenu Bansal, who was serving as Joint Commissioner (Security) at Rashtrapati Bhawan, has been removed adm attached with the Police Headquarters Delhi. The reason behind his sudden removal is probably due to his unparliamentary behaviour with subordinates and violations of rules at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on couple of occasions.
Veenu Bansal, a 2004 batch IPS officer, is from AGMUT cadre. According to sources, the action followed breach of rules at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He had run into controversies earlier also when he was the Deputy Commissioner of Police of the North-Western District in Delhi Police. Then also he was removed abruptly.
According to senior Delhi Police sources, a large number staff members of Rashtrapati Bhawan had gone on mass leave due to the unparliamentary behaviour Bansal. He would give inappropriate instructions to his subordinates and would humiliate them.
Sources say Bansal used to allow his acquaintances to use Rashtrapati Bhawan's Golf Course, which is considered a security breach as no outsider is allowed entry in the Golf Course.
Sources also said Bansal had also taken a family member to an official function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, which is also violating of rules.
Dispute with Army officers
Among other serious issues, Veenu Bansal is said to have run into disputes with senior Army Officers visiting Rashtrapati Bhawan. He used to cite Blue Book, which is a confidential manual issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs that sets strict security, logistics, and ceremonial rules for visits by the President, Vice-President, and Prime Minister.
