The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team raided several premises of Jaipur's Assistant Commissioner of CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax) on allegation of amassing Rs 2.54 crore through illegal means.
The agency raided premises in Jaipur, Ankleshwar and Ahmedabad. In the operation, a large number of properties including plots, houses, commercial space were found in many cities. At the same time, premium cars like Porsche and Jeep Compass have been found in the raids. The CBI team was engaged in the investigation for three days, disclosed on Friday.
“The officer allegedly has built assets worth about Rs 2.54 crore in 7 years through illegal means. This is almost 100% more than the income. At the same time, the assistant commissioner routed of this illegal earnings in the shell companies owned by the family. The CBI is now examining the records of the companies and firms.
The CBI has recovered gold, silver jewellery worth about Rs 35 lakh, many plots, houses, commercial spaces at different places in Rajasthan from many bases of the assistant commissioner of CGST, including Jaipur, Ankleshwar and Ahmedabad.
Apart from this, two bank lockers have also been found in the name of the family members. The CBI has registered a case against the assistant commissioner for creating disproportionate assets.
The CBI headquarters has issued a written statement giving details of raids at the premises of the assistant commissioner and registration of cases.
