Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has decided to conduct a trial for the paper leak case under the Case Officer Scheme for expeditious decision. He directed officials to ensure that the culprits, who have been booked in the paper leak case and whose challans have been submitted, should be prosecuted under the Case Officer scheme.
Office Case Scheme: Initiative by Sharma govt
Rajasthan Police started the Office Case Scheme in 2004 to expedite the prosecution of heinous crimes. Under this scheme, the case is handed over to a particular police officer who closely follows the trial and coordinates with officials, the judiciary and the other party for an expeditious decision.
The police officer ensures the safety of witnesses and sees to it that they don't turn hostile.
Recently, the state government implemented this scheme in the murder case of a tailor in Udaipur where two Muslim men had slit the throat of a man in broad daylight light.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma also decided to conduct competition examinations under the monitoring of the chief secretary and director general of police.
The chief minister directed to make proper arrangements to curb incidences of paper leaks and cheating in competitive exams. For that before examination, the DG Police and the chief secretary should directly communicate with collectors and SPs to ensure necessary arrangements.
He said that an extensive information network should be developed to curb such crime. Police should keep a strict vigil on coaching institutes and people who have been tipped to be involved in such crimes.
Just after taking the oath, Bhajan Lal Sharma constituted SIT to prove the paper leak under the leadership of VK Singh. The SIT has created a helpline number – 9530428258 – where people can contact and register their complaints regarding paper leaks and cheating.
Senior officers including DG police Umesh Mishra, additional chief secretary Abhay Kumar, principal secretary home Anand Kumar, principal secretary personnel Hemant Gera, additional director general police Dinesh MN and additional director general police VK Singh were present.
