IAS Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar has been suspended following his custody in CID for the alleged irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process. The Directorate of Enforcement is also investigating the case separately.
Gangwar, a 2016 batch IAS, was serving as Examination Controller at KPSc when irregularities in the veterinary officers recruitment examination surfaced. He as later transferred as Director in MSME department from where he was arrested.
In exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 3(2) read with 3(3) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, IAS (KN: 2016), is placed under suspension with immediate effect and until further orders, pending further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department,” the government order said.
During his suspension, the officer will be paid subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 4 of All India Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1969. He will also not be allowed to leave the headquarters under any circumstances without the written permission of the State Government.
Arrest was dramatic
The arrest of Gangwar was dramatic as days before his arrest he went to his home town without informing anyone in the department. He was found missing and Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge acknowledged his missing. However, he was later found to be at his home town in Uttar Pradesh attending his ailing father.
Meanwhile ED conducted searches at his premises in Karnataka as well as in his home town. ED did not arrest him but CID while probing the case separately detained him for questioning and subsequently arrested him.
