IAS Sudhir Rajpal given additional responsibility in Haryana

Sudhir Rajpal, a 1990 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, has been given additional charge of The Haryana government has given important additional charge Additional Chief Secretary, and Planning Department following retirement of Arun Gupta on September 30. 

Rajpal will continue to hold his existing responsibility as Additional Chief Secretary () of Home, Jail, Criminal Investigation (CID), Administration and , Forest and Department.

Haryana government had sent recommendation for extension of services of Arun Gupta, which was turned down.

Meanwhile, the state government will have to look for a suitable officer to replace Rajpal also as he is scheduled to retire in November this year.

Rajpal is originally from HP cadre

Rajpal originally started his career in the Himachal Pradesh cadre before securing an inter-cadre transfer to his native state Haryana on May 1, 1994.

His inter-cadre movement from Himachal Pradesh has been the subject of a long-running bureaucratic seniority debate in Haryana.

Batchmates originally allotted to the Haryana cadre (such as Ankur Gupta, , and Raja Sekhar Vundru) have previously challenged the state's gradation list. They argued that under Rule 6(3) of the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules, 1987, an officer transferred to a new cadre at their own request must be placed below all existing officers of that same allotment year in the new state.
