In a major development, the Karnataka High Court has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into in the Karnataka Public Service Commission recruitment scam involving IAS Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar.
The SIT would be led by senior IPS officer Alok Kumar. He will investigate the alleged irregularities in recruitment of veterinary officers by KPSC.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna ordered the setting up of the SIT and directed that all evidences collected by investigating agencies including Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the relevant police authorities be transferred to the new team.
The SIT has been directed to submit its investigation report within 100 days of commencing its probe, with progress reports to be filed every 30 days. The court also stated that all related criminal petitions seeking to quash cases will be considered only after the SIT submits its findings.

Alok Kumar is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1994 batch from the Karnataka cadre. He is currently posted as DGP, Prisons & Correctional Services.
