In a shocking incident, burglars broke into house of parents of IAS officer Shishir Gupta, who is serving as district magistrate Shopian district in Jammu & Kashmir. Thieves stole about 2 kg of silver jewellery and utensils, Rs 2 lakh in cash from the house and fled.
Shishir Gupta, a 2020 batch officer, is native of Jaipur. His parents live in Jal Vayu Vihar colony of Vidyadhar Nagar.
Parents of the IAS had gone to Shopian to meet Shishir Gupta . On Wednesday morning, neighbour saw broken lock outside the house and informed the IAS family about the incident. At the same time, the police saw a suspicious youth on a scooter in the footage of CCTV cameras in the colony.
According to police, Suresh Gupta, father of Shishir Gupta, along with his wife had gone to Jammu and Kashmir on September 22. During this time, the house was locked. On Wednesday morning, when the neighbour saw the locks outside the house broken, he informed the family and the police. The police team along with the FSL reached the spot and investigated the matter.
Who is Shishir Gupta?
Born on December 7, 1990, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Shishir joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) at the age of 29. He belongs to the AGMUT cadre and secured 50the rank in the UPSC examination. Prior to his civil services journey, Shishir pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
He initially worked in Abu Dhabi as a process engineer with Bilfinger Tebodin for nearly two years after graduation, earning a high salary. However, he felt a calling to serve the nation and decided to leave his lucrative job to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an IAS officer.
