Rajasthan has become the first state to implement a faceless and randomised scrutiny system in the commercial tax department. So far only Income Tax department practices faceless scrutiny assessment system.
Under this new arrangement, selection and allocation of cases for scrutiny of tax returns will be done through computer-based random system.
The scrutiny process will be conducted through faceless mode, which will reduce the need for unnecessary direct contact between tax payers and department officials. This will make the process more transparent, efficient and fair.
The department has allocated Inder scrutiny cases of fiscal 2022-23 on a random basis. Taxpayers whose cases have been picked for scrutiny will be informed through the portal as per the rules. If the taxpayer fail to take appropriate action after the information, proper, the competent officer will take action advance action against the misappropriation.
What tax payers should do?
Taxpayers are required to regularly pay attention to the information and notices available on the departmental portal and make the necessary information and documents available online within the stipulated time period. This will ensure quick and smooth disposal of the scrutiny process.
