At a time when more than 50 IAS officers are handling additional charges, Rajasthan government has removed ceiling of 6 months for additional payment for such duty benefiting IAS officers holding additional charges.
Now head of department and IAS officers holding posts of secretary, principal secretary and additional chief secretary will get additional payment till the time they hold the charge.
“For officers below IAS rank, the additional responsibility seizes after 6 months putting the post in abeyance. But posts held by IAS officers have administrative and financial power and remain in existence even beyond six months. So, officers must be paid for additional work till the time such arrangement is in place,” a senior IAS officer said.
As per the provisions of 35 and 50 of Rajasthan Service Rules, officers don't get any additional payment till 30 days of additional charge. However, period from 31 to 60 days, they get 1% more of their basic pay and from 60 days to six months, the additional payout is 2% of the basic pay.
