Shoot at Site: Rajasthan IAS, IPS watch life through lens

Creativity of senior IAS and IPS officers of Rajasthan flows through shutterbuck and get captured in frames displayed at Nazar Photo in Jawahar Kala Kendra. Each photo speaks its own story laced with light, shadow and vibrant surroundings.

On the occasion of World Photography Day, photographs clicked by these serving bureaucrats mark the necessity to develop hobbies for maintaining a delicate balance between busy work schedule and innerself.

Sachin Mittal, a 1996 batch IPS serving as Jaipur Commissioner is a wild life enthusiast. At least his photographs displayed at the gallery say so. Two photographs show complete contract. In one photograph, there is pair of flesh eating vultures. There is so much detailing in the photo that emotions in the eye of the scavenger is quite visible.

At the same time, a photograph of mother and baby deer together reflects the essence of life. The photograph shows the innocence in their posture. For a super cop shooting with something other than gun creates curiosity among people. But Mittal holds camera with the same steady hands that hold gun.

Naveen Jain, a 2001 batch IAS officer serving as Principal Secretary , Civil Aviation, has mountainous terrain to capture in his camera. The conical hills in the photo punctuated with small houses reflect life and vibrance on unvegetated conical hills. He sees hopes and the photos displayed at the gallery reflect his positive attitude towards life.

Jain also runs an internationally acclaimed social programme on Good Touch Bad Touch for growing up girls. Fat from mundane routine of office life, Jain has been contributing to the society in several manners. Photography is one of them. Another photo on display is also of mountains without any plantation.

Jitendra Soni, a 2010 batch IAS officer, is serving as Secretary to Chief Minister along with the additional charge of Secretary for the Department of Information and (I&PR). Multitalented, Soni is an accomplished writer and translator in Hindi and Rajasthani. He won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2016 for his highly acclaimed Rajasthani short story collection titled Bharkhama. A Rajasthani movie has also been made based on his book.

This time he lets his shutterbuck speak rather than his pen which has written 15 books for him. His photographs reflects life, people and culture which he lives every moment. Both the photos are more than art than combination of light, aperture and image.

Mridul Kachawa, a 2015 batch IPS officer, currently serving as Superintendent of Police Bikaner, decided to shoot this time with camera. His two photographs are on display at the gallery. Both the photos are from wild life. While in one photograph a tiger is seen trying to quench his thirst at the waterbody, the other is of monitor lizard raising its head with pride. These photos reflects the personality of this dare devil cop, who deals with crime and criminals with iron hand. Having a photogenic face, Mridul is a known photography enthusiast.
