Uttar Pradesh's 2023 batch IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi has once again hit the headlines. This time he has written letter to the state government seeking a 50% cut in his salary to justify the job he has been given, which keeps him occupied for not four hours in a day. He has also sought transfer to other state where he can be utilised in a meaningful manner.
Rinku Singh, who was transferred abruptly from SDM Jalaun few days back after confrontation with a BJP leader over inspection of a cold storage, has also pointed out unreasonable political and administrative interference during discharge of his duty.
Rinku wrote in the letter that if he has limited work during the day, he should be given only half the salary, or he should be posted somewhere where he can work according to the rules.
Rinku Singh Rahi is now being posted as SDM (judicial) in Jalaun district, where he is limited to paper work with no public dealing.
In this five-page letter, Rinku Singh Rahi has also made many serious allegations. He has claimed that he faced political and administrative pressure while taking action in cases of illegal seizures and illegal mining in Jalaun. In the letter, he alleged that in front of a legislator, the district magistrate allegedly directed that action should not be taken in some cases. He also wrote that an attempt was made using the name of a cabinet minister to influence the investigation of some cases.
Fire incident at Lucknow
In the letter, he has also mentioned the investigation of a cold storage after the Lucknow fire incident. He says that several shortcomings were revealed during the investigation, but later the circumstances were such that he was transferred before the investigation was completed. He also claimed that he was removed from the field posting and handed over judicial responsibility even before the committee's report came in.
In the letter, he has also raised questions about the working style of the district administration. He says that it is not enough to listen to complaints just by organising public darshans, but their reasons should be addressed. He alleged that in many cases only formal or early disposal is done, while the real problem remains the same.
