Former IAS officer Sunil Sharma has been appointed as Information Commissioner in the Rajasthan State Information Commission.
Sharma has been appointed for a tenure of 3 years or until he attains the age of 65, whichever occurs earlier.
Sharma is a 2013 batch IAS officer, promoted from state administrative services. He had held several key positions including commissioner public relations, commissioner food safety, commissioner college education and joint secretary medical education among others during his 30 years service.
Considered as a straight forward, upright officer, Sharma is close to chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. He has also served as private secretary to now BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari when he was education minister. Sharma's wife Hem Pushpa Sharma, also an IAS, promoted from other state services, is currently serving as director, state assurance and provident fund department. Hem Pushpa Sharma is sister of former IAS officer Govind Sharma.
Who all are in the Commission?
The Commission already has former DGP of Rajasthan M L Lather as the chief information commissioner along with former IAS officers Suresh Gupta and Mahendra Kumar Parekh as information commissioners. Teekaram Sharma, who has retired from legal services, is another information commissioner in the commission.
