Adani may enter Mahindra World City if Rajasthan govt denotifies SEZ

“There is a proposal to denotify 600 acres of the multiproduct SEZ and convert it into Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) as there are many companies including Adani Group, which have shown interest in DTA,” said a senior official. 

The official said that Adani has shown intent to develop mega conference facility, data centre and tech centre across 240 acres of land in Mahindra World City. 

“This can happen only if the state government denotifies SEZ,” the official said.

What Is Mahindra World City?

Mahindra World City, a joint venture between Mahindra Lifespace Developers (74%) and RIICO (26%), is spread across 3000 acres. It is the first operational multi product SEZ of the country across 1500 acres. Out of remaining 1,500 acres – Domestic Tariff Area is across 1000 acres and social infrastructure like housing , schools and other educational institutes across 500 acres. 

“There are more than 60 companies in sectors like IT/ITeS, Engineering, Automotive and Auto Ancillary, Apparel, Handicrafts, land Food Processing are operating from SEZ. However, little more than half the area earmarked for SEZ is occupied,” the official said. 

He said that companies are showing more interest in DTA, which already houses companies like JCB, Perto, Amazon, Flipkart, KeraKoll, Shakti Hormann, Renew and Ball Corporation among others.
