Bikaner Police has sent shock waves down the spines of smugglers and terror outfits in Pakistan after they foiled a cross-border drone smuggling operation seizing around 10 kg of heroin worth an estimated Rs 50 crore along with 11 automatic weapons, 22 magazines and over 100 rounds of ammunition.
The Operation named ‘Shockwave' was based on Human Intelligence. On the basis of information gathered from sources, Bikaner Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachawa led his team to intercept the Drone aimed at dropping illegal arms and narcotics in Punjab.
According to Kachawa, this is the largest ever seizure of contraband arms and narcotics in the Khajuwala border area.
The Police has arrested Virendra Singh, a resident of Jodhpur from the spot. He was allegedly attempting to collect the consignment. He is being questioned, and police said efforts are underway to trace other members of the smuggling syndicate.
Bikaner Range Inspector General (IG) Police Om Prakash credited the coordinated efforts of intelligence agencies, police personnel and local residents for helping curb cross-border smuggling activities.
“The seizure was particularly significant ahead of Independence Day, as it may have prevented a major terror or criminal incident. He added that timely action of Bikaner Police had helped foil what appeared to be a larger conspiracy,” he said.

Mridul Kachawa has been on his mission to crack down the drug mafia and arms smuggler ever since he joined as Bikaner SP. In the past few months, the Bikaner Police has been able to seize contraband drug and illegal arms in huge quantities breaking down the smugglers' network.
“We are committed to protect youth from consuming narcotics. We will keep on cracking down these mafias and smugglers” Kachawa said adding that the Operation Shockwave will keep on sending shocks to criminals.
